Dr Elisa Fadda visiting us

It’s been a pleasure hosting the visit of Dr Elisa Fadda, from Maynooth University. Elisa has delivered a seminar on molecular simulation to our group.

Ahmed awarded PhD

Congratulations Ahmed on the award of your PhD on 6th Mar 2020. Photo taken on our group celebration lunch in Newtown on 11th March in a lovely Thai restaurant!

Miss Lilian Dalton joining us

Miss Lilian Dalton is joining us as SUmmer Research Scholar. She is a current science undergraduate student in the University of Sydney. She will be carrying out a 6-weeks project investigating a bio-friendly lubricant that potentially could be used to infuse porous polymer surface for passive atmospheric water capture. Welcome Lilian!

Dr Riccardo Parin joining us

Dr Riccardo Parin, who finished his PhD from University of Padova, is joining us. He will be working as Postdoctoral Research Associate on the Sydney Nano Grand Challenge project, Advanced Capture if Water from the Atmosphere (ACWA). He will bring in his expertise on thermo-mechanical energy engineering. Welcome Riccardo!

Halogen-bond driven self-assembly of perfluorocarbon monolayers on silicon nitride

The paper titled “Halogen-bond driven self-assembly of perfluorocarbon monolayers on silicon nitride” is available online! It is about the modification of a silicon nitride surface by exploiting a new mechanism for producing ultra-thin surface coatings, the halogen-bond. The coatings are shown to produce ultra-low surface energies and we have demonstrated its ability to improve the …
