Is it possible to stabilise surface bubbles against shrinkage? Leo James, Chris Vega Sanchez, Priya Mehta and Prof. C. Neto, in collaboration with University of Alberta Xuehua Zhang, answered this question in their article published on Advanced Materials Interfaces. They confirmed earlier finding of bubbles on lubricant-infused surfaces under water. They found that even tiny volumes of the infused lubricant stabilise surface bubbles against shrinkage. These results could lead to superior gas-infused surfaces that reduce interfacial drag for longer, thanks to the more stable interfacial gas. It has been a long journey, over 2 years in the making, please enjoy! The article can be download for free https://doi.org/10.1002/admi.202500160
